
Tyrel Jackson (Broker/Owner) is a Washington State native, beginning his career in restaurant management before proceeding to real estate. Tyrel has most recently worked for California's largest property management company with over 50,000 residential units. Tyrel was overseeing a multi-million dollar renovation of a prestigious Seattle suburb multi-family project owned by two publically traded companies. Prior to that Tyrel worked for one of Whatcom Counties largest property management companies, growing their residential portfolio; positioning them for a recent acquisition of a rival management company. Tyrel holds his Washington State Real Estate Brokers license, and has been involved in real estate for over 9 years. His expertise is in value-added real estate opportunities. Tyrel currently serves on the board of the Mt. Baker Chamber of Commerce. Tyrel is also a member of IREM and NARPM.
Bret VanLant (Agent/Owner) was born and raised in Whatcom County. Bret is no stranger to hard work, as he was an integral part of his families dairy farm operations. Bret began his real estate career at the site level of a twenty five million dollar multi-family project in Bellingham. Bret soon began moving up the ranks, and worked as a portfolio manager supervising commercial centers, offices, and a residential portfolio throughout the state, while working for Whatcom Counties largest management firm. Bret's expertise lays in budgetary planning and site level startups beginning during the construction phase. He has overseen the startup of many prestigious Whatcom County shopping centers and luxury apartments. Bret holds his Washington State Real Estate Salespersons license, and has been involved in real estate for over 8 years. Bret now serves on the board of the Mt. Baker Chamber of Commerce.
Bridget McShane (Agent) began her career in real estate management prior to transitioning to Misty Mountains Realty. For three years she was a senior property manager for one of Whatcom Counties largest management firms. With her past experience her expertise is in investment properties. She is an ideal fit for buyers and sellers alike seeking to increase their rental portfolio, or liquidate their asset. Bridget has an unparralled reputation in the industry. Her contract negotiation skills make her invaluable to any buyers or sellers.
Jack Hovenier (Agent) is a 40-year resident of Whatcom County. Jack has been involved in local real estate since 1997 and is very knowledgeable about single family homes, investment property and commercial, industrial and subdivision requirements in Whatcom County. He attended WWU and started his first company in 1991 at Bellis Fair mall. He is the founder of United Wholesale Gumball and Lightwear. He has appeared many times as a sales person on QVC and has traveled around the world as a cruise ship lecturer. Jack currently serves as the chairperson of the Whatcom County Behavioral Health Revenue Advisory Committee and he has served many years on the Whatcom County Substance Abuse Advisory Board. He also volunteers as a CASA (court appointed special advocate) representing children in juvenile court. In his spare time he enjoys writing, reading and spending time with his son.
Monique Jones, ARM (Administrative Assistant) has her Bachelors from Western Washington University in Communication with a minor in Sociology. Monique is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management as an Accredited Residential Manager (ARM). Monique was most recently an assistant manager of a 340 unit tax credit property in Portland, OR. Monique is an active volunteer for the YMCA and Team in Training. When not at the office Monique enjoys hiking the trails near Mt. Baker, and running.
Guinn Hinman (Relations Manager) hails from the mountains of western North Carolina. After receiving a BA in English from Brevard College, she moved here and began working as an Administrative Assistant for the largest property management company in Whatcom County. After making the transition to Misty Mountains Realty, she has become an integral part of our team. You can expect to see Guinn's smiling face when you first walk into our office. She is currently pursuing her MA in Museology from the University of Washington, and in her spare time enjoys hiking, fishing and travelling.
Barbara Jackson (Comptroller) was born and raised in Whatcom County. Barbara recently worked the last 15 years at Harley-Davidson of Bellingham as the General Manager, her duties included all aspects of the businesses accounting, including payroll. Barbara was also responsible for the staffing of the business, inventory procurement, goal setting, advertisement, IT developement, management of the individual departments when these department head jobs were dissolved. When not at work Barbara can be found spending time with her family and friends.
Donna Zender (Auditor)Richard Banel (General Counsel) spent his childhood in Kirkland and later lived on Camano Island for 15 years. He is a graduate of the University of Washington and later received his Law Degree from Seattle University School of Law. Associated with both large and small firms during his career, he also spent many years associated with a large international non-profit. In 2004, the hiking and skiing attracted him to E. Whatcom County where he resides with his wife and black Labrador. Currently in solo practice focused on property transactions and development, and probate and estates, he is a member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar.
